Two cities, first impressions

Jewel Changi Airport and the return

08:30	Check out in Johor Bahru and transfer to Singapore Changi Airport, allowing time for immigration.

12:00	Check in and drop baggage, leaving time to wrap up before boarding.

Merlion Park & Marina Bay

Merlion Park is Singapore's best-known waterfront landmark, looking across the bay to Marina Bay Sands and the financial district. Teck Sing

Teck Sing is known for herbal paper-wrapped chicken, made with red-legged chicken, Chinese herbs and a house sauce, sealed in parchment and slow-baked. Tearing the paper open releases the herbal aroma, and the meat stays tender in a broth that is fragrant rather than heavy. It makes a natural welcome dinner on arrival, alongside petai dishes, sambal kangkung and cereal prawns.

LUNCH OPTION

Hua Mui / curry fish head

Hua Mui serves old-school Nanyang cooking: Hainanese chicken chop, local coffee, kaya toast and soft-boiled eggs. If time and the queue allow, the city's popular curry fish head is another option. All lunches are at your own arrangement.

Restoran Todak

A waterfront seafood restaurant serving shared dishes: crab, steamed fish, butter prawns, clams and sambal kangkung. The mood is relaxed, which makes it a good place to carry on talking about the day's viewings.

San Low Seafood

A long-established zi char restaurant in Johor Bahru whose signature fried bee hoon is dry and fragrant, usually served with cereal prawns, steamed fish, tofu and vegetables. As the final dinner it is a chance to gather up what the group has learned and raise any remaining questions.
